Following is a listing of items of general interest which were announced in the press but not made public as formal White House press releases during the period covered by this issue. Appointments requiring Senate approval are not included since they appear in the list of nominations submitted to the Senate, below.
- During their visit to Great Britain, the President and Mrs. Nixon will meet with Her Majesty the Queen at Chequers on October 3.
- The President attended the swearing-in ceremony for Clay T. Whitehead as Director of the Office of Telecommunications Policy in the President's Office at the White House.
- The President appointed five persons to be members of the Presidential Emergency Board established on September 18, 1970, by Executive Orders 11558 and 11559 under section 10 of the Railway Labor Act. They are Robert O. Boyd, William H. Coburn, Lewis M. Gill, Jacob Seidenberg, and Rolf Waltin. The President designated Mr. Gill as Chairman of the Board.
- The President transmitted to the Congress an interim report by the Secretary of the Interior on negotiations for a Hudson River Basin Compact.
- The President has today accepted the request of Judge Girard E. Kalbfleisch to retire from regular active duty as United States District Judge for the Northern District of Ohio, effective September 30, 1970.
- Mrs. Ferdinand Marcos, wife of the President of the Philippines, met with the President in his office at the White House.

The H. R. Haldeman Diaries consists of seven handwritten diaries, 36 dictated diaries recorded as sound recordings, and two handwritten audio cassette tape subject logs. The diaries and logs reflect H. R. Haldeman’s candid personal record and reflections on events, issues, and people encountered during his service in the Nixon White House. As administrative assistant to the President and Chief of Staff, Haldeman attended and participated in public events and private meetings covering the entire scope of issues in which the Nixon White House engaged in during the years 1969-1973. Source: National Security Council Files, Nixon Intelligence Files, Subject File, Philippines. Secret; Eyes Only. The meeting was held in Mrs. Marcos’ suite in the Hotel Madison. According to a September 23 attached covering memorandum from Helms to Kissinger, Helms met with Mrs. Marcos on the evening of September 22 at “the President’s instruction.” According to the President’s Daily Diary, Nixon and Kissinger met with Mrs. Marcos on September 22 from 12:42 p.m. to 1:14 p.m. No other record of the meeting has been found.
