    Following is a listing of items of general interest which were announced in the press but not made public as formal White House press releases during the period covered by this issue.     • The President met with Secretary of Transportation John A. Volpe and Lt. Gen. Benjamin O. Davis, Jr. (USAF, ret.), newly appointed Director of Civil Aviation Security for the Department, to discuss the Department's anti-hijacking program and aviation war risk insurance coverage for American air carriers.
    • The President attended the swearing-in ceremony of John N. Irwin II as Under Secretary of State in the President's Office at the White House.
    • Ambassadors Roger Leon Charles Guerrillot of the Central African Republic, Novuhiko Ushiba of Japan, Neville T. D. Kanakaratne of Ceylon, and Wilfrid de Souza of Dahomey presented their credentials to the President at the White House.

Archival Holdings

  • The H. R. Haldeman Diaries consists of seven handwritten diaries, 36 dictated diaries recorded as sound recordings, and two handwritten audio cassette tape subject logs. The diaries and logs reflect H. R. Haldeman’s candid personal record and reflections on events, issues, and people encountered during his service in the Nixon White House. As administrative assistant to the President and Chief of Staff, Haldeman attended and participated in public events and private meetings covering the entire scope of issues in which the Nixon White House engaged in during the years 1969-1973.   • The National Archives Catalog is the online portal to the records held at the National Archives, and information about those records. It is the main way of describing our holdings and also provides access to electronic records and digitized versions of our holdings.
