Following is a listing of items of general interest which were announced in the press but not made public as formal White House press releases during the period covered by this issue. Appointments requiring Senate approval are not included since they appear in the list of nominations submitted to the Senate, below.
- The President today announced the designation of Secretary of State William P. Rogers as his personal representative to head the United States delegation to attend the inaugural ceremonies of His Excellency Luis Echeverria Alvarez as President of the United Mexican States on December 1.
- The President today transmitted to the Senate for advice and consent to ratification the treaty on extradition between the United States and Spain, signed at Madrid on May 29, 1970.
- The President today announced the retirement of A. Sherman Christensen as United States District Judge for the District of Utah, effective upon the appointment and qualification of his successor but no later than February 15, 1971.
- The President has accepted the resignation of Secretary of the Interior Walter J. Hickel, effective immediately. After the 92d Congress convenes, the President intends to nominate Representative Rogers C. B. Morton of Maryland to the post. Under Secretary Fred J. Russell will serve as Acting Secretary in the interim.

The H. R. Haldeman Diaries consists of seven handwritten diaries, 36 dictated diaries recorded as sound recordings, and two handwritten audio cassette tape subject logs. The diaries and logs reflect H. R. Haldeman’s candid personal record and reflections on events, issues, and people encountered during his service in the Nixon White House. As administrative assistant to the President and Chief of Staff, Haldeman attended and participated in public events and private meetings covering the entire scope of issues in which the Nixon White House engaged in during the years 1969-1973.
